About Us

Splainers’ founder, Mark Smith, can frequently be heard humming Cuban big-band music (though to the untrained ear his hums sound an awful lot like 80s rock music – ironic, we know), and he *is* married to a zany, nutty redhead (truth). Her name is not Lucy.

Professionally, and prior to starting Splainers in 2008, Mark turned 20th Century Fox’s film archives (Fox Movietone News and the Fox/KTTV Film Archives) into a valuable production entity, writing and producing film and news shorts for various entities. More recently Mark served as Director of Advertising for Vail Resorts, Inc’s retail holding, Specialty Sports Venture.

The Splainers team consists of super-talented writers, illustrators and animators who skillfully breathe life into our aforementioned cast of flat, virtual people.
